Standard License Agreement

Last Updated: March 15, 2026

License Type: Standard License

This is the default license for all digital assets (3D models, 2D assets, audio, tools, scripts, shaders, VFX, and templates) purchased on the DevLoot marketplace. By purchasing an asset, you automatically agree to the terms of this license.

1. Definitions

  • Asset: The digital product (3D model, script, tool, etc.) you have purchased
  • Creator: The original author/developer of the Asset
  • Licensee/You: The person or entity that has purchased the license to use the Asset
  • Commercial Project: Any project that generates revenue or is created for commercial purposes
  • Personal Project: Non-commercial projects created for learning, portfolio, or personal use
  • End Product: The final game, application, or project in which the Asset is integrated or used
  • Modification: Any alteration, adaptation, or derivative work created from the Asset

2. Grant of License

By purchasing the Asset, you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to use the Asset subject to the terms and conditions of this agreement. This license grants you the right to:

  • Download and install the Asset on your computer or devices
  • Use the Asset for personal and commercial projects
  • Modify and adapt the Asset to suit your project needs
  • Integrate the Asset into your End Product
  • Publish and distribute your End Product containing the Asset

This license is personal to you and may not be shared, sold, or transferred to other individuals or entities.

3. Permitted Uses

You may use the Asset in the following ways:

3.1 Personal Projects

Create non-commercial projects including games, applications, films, art projects, and educational materials. You may share these projects with others at no charge.

3.2 Commercial Projects

Use the Asset in commercial games, applications, and products. This includes:

  • Games sold on Steam, Epic Games Store, mobile app stores, or directly
  • Commercial software applications and tools
  • Commissioned work and contract projects
  • Subscription-based services and SaaS applications
  • Free-to-play games with in-game monetization

3.3 Asset Packs and Bundles

You may combine the Asset with other assets (owned by you or licensed from other creators) to create a larger pack or bundle, provided each component retains appropriate attribution and licensing.

4. Restrictions

You may NOT use the Asset in the following ways:

  • Resale of Raw Assets: Do not resell the Asset as-is or in unmodified form
  • Redistribution: Do not share, distribute, or re-upload the Asset files on other platforms
  • License Transfer: Do not transfer this license to another person or sell it separately from your End Product
  • Competing Products: Do not create a competing asset marketplace or library product based on the Asset
  • Reverse Engineering: Do not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code
  • Trademark Misuse: Do not use the Creator's trademark or branding to advertise your product misleadingly
  • Unlawful Content: Do not use the Asset in projects that are illegal, hateful, or harmful
  • Adult Content Restrictions: The Asset may not be used in adult or sexually explicit games unless explicitly allowed by the Creator

5. Commercial Use

The Asset purchased on DevLoot comes with a commercial use license. You may:

  • Monetize projects containing the Asset through all standard revenue models
  • Charge for your End Product that includes the Asset
  • Use the Asset in commercial games, apps, and software
  • Use the Asset in projects created on behalf of clients (see Client Work section)

There are no additional royalties or fees to pay to the Creator when you commercialize your project. The license fee you paid covers both personal and commercial use.

6. Game Integration and Publishing

Permitted Platforms: You may publish games and applications containing the Asset on any legitimate platform:

  • Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, Itch.io
  • App stores (Apple App Store, Google Play, etc.)
  • Console platforms (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch)
  • Self-hosted or DRM-free distribution
  • VR/AR platforms (Meta Quest, SteamVR, etc.)
  • Web-based games and browser games

Publishing Restrictions: Do not publish the Asset itself to asset marketplaces. The Asset is for integration into your End Product, not for resale as a standalone product.

7. Client Work and Third-Party Projects

You may use the Asset in work created on behalf of clients, such as:

  • Contract game development projects
  • Freelance game design and art direction
  • Studio projects for film, animation, or media production
  • Commissioned educational or training materials

Important: Your client receives a license to use the Asset only in their specific End Product. They do not receive a license to use the Asset in other projects or to redistribute it. The license remains non-transferable and exclusive to the specific project.

8. Modifications and Derivative Works

You may: Modify and adapt the Asset to suit your project needs, including:

  • Altering colors, textures, and materials
  • Scaling and repositioning assets
  • Combining the Asset with other assets
  • Extending functionality (for tools and scripts)
  • Remixing and recontextualizing assets

You may not: Publish your modified Asset as a competing product or sell it separately from your End Product. Modifications are for personal use within your End Product only.

9. Attribution Requirements

Attribution is appreciated but not required when using assets from DevLoot. However:

  • If the Creator specifies attribution requirements, you must comply with them
  • Check the Asset's product page for any specific attribution instructions
  • If attribution is requested, credit should appear in your End Product's credits, README, or about section
  • Proper attribution format: "[Asset Name] by [Creator Name]" or as specified by Creator

Attributing the Creator in your project is generous and supports the creator community, but remains optional unless explicitly required.

10. Intellectual Property Rights

Creator's Rights: The Creator retains all intellectual property rights to the Asset, including copyrights, trademarks, and patents. You do not acquire any ownership rights to the Asset itself, only the right to use it according to this license.

Your End Product: You retain all rights to the original creative work you create using the Asset. The Asset is a component of your End Product, and your ownership of the End Product is not affected by this license.

Limitations: You may not use the Asset in a way that claims you are the original creator or author. Claim ownership of your modifications and integrations, but recognize the Asset's original creator.

11. Warranty Disclaimer

THE ASSET IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. THE CREATOR AND DEVLOOT MAKE NO WARRANTIES, REPRESENTATIONS, OR CONDITIONS REGARDING:

  • Quality, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose
  • Non-infringement of third-party intellectual property rights
  • Compatibility with specific software versions or game engines
  • Performance or stability in your project

You use the Asset at your own risk. It is your responsibility to test the Asset with your specific tools, engines, and project requirements before relying on it in production.

12. Refund Policy

Refund Eligibility: You may request a refund within 14 days of purchase if:

  • The Asset does not match its product description
  • The Asset is corrupted or cannot be extracted
  • The Asset is incompatible with the stated software versions or platforms
  • The Asset infringes on intellectual property rights (which would make it unfit for use)

Non-Refundable Situations: Refunds will NOT be issued for:

  • Change of mind or personal preference
  • Difficulty integrating the Asset (technical compatibility issues with your setup)
  • Inability to meet your specific project needs
  • Purchases made by mistake

To request a refund, contact support@devloot.com within 14 days with your order number and reason for refund.

13. License Termination

This license is perpetual and will not terminate except in the following cases:

  • You violate the terms of this license agreement
  • You use the Asset in projects that infringe intellectual property rights or break laws
  • You resell or redistribute the Asset in violation of this agreement

If your license is terminated due to a violation, you must immediately cease using the Asset in new projects, though existing published End Products may continue to be distributed.

Custom License Terms

Some Creators may offer custom license terms that differ from this Standard License. Always check the Creator's specific license terms on the Asset's product page before purchasing. Custom licenses override this Standard License for that specific Asset.
